Finding our way home comes with questions. Here are some answers.
The Questions.
Why did Blaine create The Confessional?
Not long ago, a good friend asked Blaine, “When you were living in your secret world of hopelessness and addiction, what is the one thing you wanted most?”
Without hesitation Blaine replied, “I would have given anything to have a confidential advocate outside of my ministry world that I could have shared my struggles with freely, without any fear of exposure.”
The friend looked back at Blaine and said, “Why don’t you provide a space like that today for today’s pastors and spiritual leaders?”
One year later, The Confessional was born.
Why would I confess to a person I don’t know?
Sometimes, a person who does not have a history with you can speak more clearly into your life. They don’t bring bias or prejudice into the situation. You are able to get an honest assessment of the best way to find help and healing from someone who is not a “stakeholder” in your life or work.
Will my confession be anonymous?
It can be as anonymous as you want it to be. The only information that Blaine will see with your confession is your email address. All other details about you identity are completely up to you.
Who will see my confession?
No one but Blaine. Each confession from this site comes directly into his personal email account. No one else has access to these emails and they will be permanently deleted after being responded to.
What should I confess to Blaine?
Whatever you need help with. Blaine has walked through everything you could possibly imagine with pastors. Depression and suicidal impulses. Addiction and affair issues. You know what you need to get on the table.
How is Blaine qualified to help me?
Blaine is a certified addiction coach and has been successfully restoring pastors and leaders for nearly a decade. He not only has the wisdom and experience to help you turn your life around, he comes from a place of deep compassion, having experienced his own brokenness and failure.
Will Blaine make me confess to someone else?
Blaine will not place a single expectation on you to tell another soul. He is simply providing you a sacred space for confession and prayer, for hope and healing to enter your life.
How does Blaine have time to respond to all these confessions?
Blaine has a wonderful tribe of churches and individuals that support this mission financially each month. This enables Blaine to dedicate a significant portion of each week working with pastors who courageously share their secrets with him.
